For all courses, students can receive a Certificate of Completion for completing the tutorials or a certificate for completing the tutorials with a project badge. There is no certificate for just the projects portion.
The certificates include your name, a unique stable link, the course completed, whether or not you received a project badge, and the number of hours the course represents. You can add your certificate to your ORCiD account through our Portal.
Attendance Policy
Students are allowed to miss 2 days. These 2 days are measured separately for the tutorials and projects portion.
Students are required to attend Orientation which happens the week before the course.
Students are expected to communicate with their TA about any absences
The two days in cumulative. Attendance for a single tutorials or project session can be marked anywhere from 0 (absent the whole day) to 1 (present the whole day). So if a student misses a few hours over 4 days but it does not add up to a full two days, they will still receive a certificate.
A student can still receive a tutorials certificate even if they miss more than 2 days of projects.
Students can opt out of the project portion of the course altogether if the course load is too overwhelming.
Students are expected to be present and engaged in their pod. This means having their camera on when possible, and contributing to discussions by unmuting or in the chat. Participation is a part of daily attendance, if a student is on Zoom but is unresponsive that is counted as a partial absence.
There are no project only certificates awarded. If a student misses less than two days during project time, but more than two days during tutorials time, they will not receive any certificate.
Attendance Waivers
If a student missed more than 2 days, they can submit a waiver. We understand there are circumstances outside of a student's control that can cause them to miss a few extra days of class.
A student's TA will receive their waiver and will ultimately decide to award a certificate or not. If a TA would like to discussion a specific case more in depth, or if a student has an issue with a decision made by their TA, you can escalate the issue by emailing nma@neuromatch.io.
