Best Practices

Keep text minimal
  • Let visuals or punchy text do the heavy lifting. Remember that visuals are often the first layer, just to catch attention; it sits along side a link, copy in the social media post, etc.
Folders
  • Folders in Canva are acessed on the left menu under Projects. Please sort
Use existing designs as a starting point
  • Look at the other designs in the folders. To help keep on brand, stay cohesive, and save time see if there is one you can copy and update.
Avoid AI/Stock photo people
  • We have a vibrant community and we want them to shine in our visuals. If you don't have a 'real' picture of someone to use, just skip having a photo of a person.
Get a second set of eyes
  • Share in your project channel, #_marketing in Slack, or with Muriah. You can  share a link to your design  so direct edits can be made or comments can be left.
