Early Career Researchers

Supporting the next generation of researchers is an important part of the Funded Cohort Program. We aim to create opportunities for networking, professional development, peer learning, and collaboration across the funded cohort. Activities will be shaped by the interests and needs of the ECR community as the programme develops.

Who can participate?

The ECR Programme is open to all ECRs involved in the funded projects.
We intentionally take a broad and inclusive approach to defining an Early Career Researcher, recognising that career stages and definitions vary across institutions, disciplines, and countries. There are no minimum time commitment requirements—participants simply need to be actively involved in one of the funded projects.
To help us coordinate communications, each funded team will be asked to nominate one ECR representative. The representative will act as the main point of contact for ECR-related updates and opportunities, but all ECRs within the projects are welcome to participate in program activities.

What to expect

The programming is intended to evolve alongside the cohort. As we get to know participants and better understand their interests and professional development needs, we'll work together to shape activities that are most valuable.
Examples of activities may include:
  • Networking events with ECRs across the cohort
  • Professional development workshops
  • Peer-learning, journal clubs, and discussion groups
  • Mentoring opportunities
  • Research spotlights and opportunities to present your work
  • Career development sessions with researchers and professionals from academia, industry, healthcare, and the non-profit sector
We'll regularly seek feedback from ECR participants to ensure the program reflects their interests and supports their career development.
