Review Process

All applications undergo a multi-stage review process designed to ensure fair evaluation and strong alignment between scholars and research projects.
Step 1: Eligibility Check
The Neuromatch team reviews all applications to confirm basic eligibility(e.g., career stage, ability to commit).
Only eligible applicants will be shared with mentors for scoring.
Step 2: Mentor Review & Scoring
Project mentors rate shortlisted applicants based on:
Fit (1–5): Alignment between applicant background and project
Skills (1–5): Relevant experience and competencies
Motivation (1–5): Clarity, thoughtfulness, and engagement
Additional considerations (1–3): Unique experience, recommendations, or perspectives (optional)
Decisions are coordinated with the program team to ensure fairness, transparency, and overall cohort balance.
Step 3: Optional Interviews
Mentors may invite their top candidates for a short online interview before final selection.
